After the less than stellar Homefront, Farrell is at it again, this time claiming that THQ is one of the big names in publishing. No one will dispute that they have some big titles in their lineup, including Saints Row: The Third, but “one of the big ones” necessarily gets you compared to Ubisoft, EA, and Activision Blizzard. THQ may be a successful company, but it’s not anywhere near the level of success reached by EA and Activision.

THQ made a lot of news in the way they talked up Homefront, comparing it to Call of Duty, as it seems all shooters must be compared to CoD. Now, Farrell has told IndustryGamers, “We [THQ] certainly think of ourselves as one of the big ones.” He mentions Homefront again, using its success as proof of his belief. Homefront, being a completely original IP with a fantastic premise, seems to represent more than just a little bit of hope for the growth of the company, with Brian Farrell believing it could grow into one of the best selling games of all time.

Competition and winning seem to be concepts that both Brian Farrell and Charlie Sheen hold dear in their mindsets, and Farrell’s competitive spirit should be good for the company as it tries to grow to the level of EA or Activision. One gets the impression that perhaps THQ thinks of itself as one of the big names in order to develop the mindset necessary to succeed over their competition. Nonetheless, Farrell sees THQ only going up from here, saying:

He has the right mindset, and can certainly talk the talk – lets hope the games prove Farrell’s points. Read our review of THQ’s just-released MX vs. ATV Alive to find out if the company’s confidence is rightly placed!

Do you think of THQ as one of the major publishers in the industry? Can they ever be as big as EA, Ubisoft, or Activision?
